We resolve claims in accordance with Section 8 of our Terms of Service, which is where you can find the Bellhop Damage Protection Policy.
Under Bellhop's standard damage protection policy, you may be eligible to recover from damages to your personal property at a rate of sixty (60) cents per pound. This amount is not tied to the repair or replacement cost but rather is tied to the weight of the item. This method of reimbursement is based on both state and federal standards and is common within the moving industry.
For structural issues, we offer the average cost to repair the localized damaged area, keeping the extent and severity in mind. Bellhop would not cover the costs to resurface/refinish the entire affected surface and doesn't guarantee an exact match with the surface's pre-move condition.
In certain states, you can select additional valuation coverage options directly through Bellhop when you sign your Pre-move Moving Services Agreement (MSA) from your customer dashboard. If you have already signed your Pre-move MSA and would like to change your selection, contact Bellhop's Customer Support team at support@bellhop.com and we'll be happy to assist.
Outside of the above states or for any labor only or long distance services, Bellhop's standard damage protection policy of $.60/lb would apply. If you would like additional coverage for your goods, Bellhop recommends that you purchase third party insurance protection from a vendor of your choice.
